At Cibus Mission, we believe in empowering young people with practical skills that build confidence, community pride, and self-sufficiency. Our youth programs are rooted in real-world experience — because the best learning happens when young hands do real work.

From learning how to grow fresh food in an urban environment to repairing bicycles for transportation, our programs equip youth with life skills that serve them for decades to come.

Every program is designed to give youth a sense of ownership and pride in their community. When a child fixes a bike or harvests their first vegetables, they don't just gain a skill — they gain confidence.

Program 1

Youth Urban Farm Program

Our Youth Urban Farm Program teaches young people how to grow their own food in an urban setting. Participants learn everything from soil preparation and planting to harvesting and composting — gaining a deep appreciation for where food comes from and the work that goes into it.

This program connects youth to the earth, their community, and to Cibus Mission's broader mission of food security. Produce grown in our urban farm supports local families in need, giving participants a direct, tangible way to serve their neighbors.

Program 2

Youth Bike Repair Program
Fix-It-Keep-It

The Fix-It-Keep-It Program gives youth the opportunity to learn bicycle repair and maintenance — and then keep the bike they fix! This powerful incentive motivates young people to master real mechanical skills while earning their own means of transportation.

Bicycles represent freedom, independence, and opportunity. For many youth in underserved communities, a working bike can be the difference between getting to school, a job, or simply exploring their community. By fixing their own bike, they also gain the skills to help others in their neighborhood.
